Cost
Spring and fall terms include 9 weekly classes at a cost of $150 for the entire term, and summer sessions are 6 weeks at a cost of $100. We do not, however, turn down riders due to financial difficulty. Riders are able to apply for scholarships if needed.
Lessons
Lessons typically run approximately 40 minutes in length and include a variety of activities, including warm-up, horse handling (steering, trotting, starting and stopping), and end with a trail ride or game to relax. Most riders begin with a team of 3-4 volunteers, and some riders may progress to total independence.
Riders are able to enjoy physical and emotional benefits from our program, including increased self esteem and confidence, enhanced muscle control, developed attention, and numerous other benefits. We encourage you to consult your physicians and therapists regarding the benefits of therapeutic horseback riding for yourself or your loved one, and we look forward to seeing you at the barn!
If you are interested in riding in our program, please contact us at (205) 987-WHOA (9462) or email us, complete the New Rider Forms, and review the Student Information Booklet.
Please note: Currently, Special Equestrians has a waiting list for riders. Please allow 12 – 18 months for placement in our program once you are on the list.
