Ways to Volunteer
Side walkers assist the rider with their position and balance and relay directions from the instructor!
The horse handler grooms and tacks horses for class, as well as leads them during lessons! *Additional training required*
There are always chores that need to be completed in the stable and on the grounds!
We utilize volunteers to assist with our major fundraisers throughout the year! You can join a planning committee or participate at the event itself!
These volunteers feed, care for, and clean up after our horses year round! *Special training required*
Special Equestrians would not be able to function without the help of over 200 volunteers each year! These amazing individuals serve Special Equestrians in a variety of different ways. Program volunteers, which are the largest group, consist of sidewalkers and horse handlers who directly assist riders during their therapeutic riding or hippotherapy sessions. Specially trained volunteers are also utilized to help care for the program's horses on our Horse Care Team.
Running a therapeutic riding program takes a village! If you would like to know more about joining our volunteer family, see our application page!
